Nigeria at 63: United in Resilience, Striving for Progress

Explore Nigeria's 63rd Independence Anniversary, a celebration of unity and resilience in the face of adversity. Join us in striving for progress.

It is October 1 again.  Another important day in the lives of the largest black nation on planet Earth and our corporate existence as a self-governed nation.  And we at Noble Solutions - The Solutions Hub, join the rest of Nigerians in the celebration of the 63rd independence anniversary of our great nation, Nigeria. The independent anniversary over the years has indeed been characterised by mixed feelings for Nigerians because of our numerous challenges.  From both sides, the pieces of evidence are undeniable.

We, as a nation and individuals, have been plagued with economic, social, and environmental challenges. We are facing the harsh realities of hunger, deprivation, poverty, and insecurity, and it is natural to feel disheartened by these hardships and the number of challenges we face.  These facts, backed by statistical evidence from all indexes measuring the economic and social well-being of people from organisations around the world, are true and factual, as they are undeniable.  But also true, factual, and undeniable is the fact that we are a great nation of resilient people.  So, at these trying times, it is equally important to recognise and remember the unity and resilience that define us as Nigerians and to find hope in our collective determination to overcome these obstacles and progress despite the actions and inactions of our bad, naive, and senseless governments past, present, and future.

The reality of hunger, deprivation, poverty, and insecurity looms large in our lives, casting shadows on our collective aspirations. But today, let us come together not only to acknowledge these issues but also to find strength and inspiration in our unity and resilience as a nation

The Road Travelled

Our journey as a nation though dented by tribulation has been marked with moments of triumph.  From the struggles for independence to the challenges of the present day, we have faced adversities that might have broken lesser nations. Yet Nigeria endures. We must continue to draw strength from our rich history of resilience, adaptability, and unity in times of crisis and government insensitivity, as was demonstrated in the End-SARS protest.

Hunger and Poverty

Hunger and poverty are harsh realities for many of our fellow Nigerians. However, we must remember that we are a country blessed with abundant resources. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that these resources are harnessed for the betterment of us all. Initiatives aimed at eradicating hunger and poverty must be championed, and we must create opportunities for economic growth and prosperity. We as a people must stop the few privileged ones among us in government and places of power from using hunger, poverty, and deprivation as formidable weapons against the larger majority of us.  We can stop them because we give them the power and we are the ones that allow them to use it against us. Hunger, poverty, and deprivation are formidable foes, but they are not insurmountable when they are used as a tool in the hands of the government to keep us in perpetual submission. Our people possess untapped potential, waiting to be harnessed for the betterment of our society.  It is our responsibility to channel this potential into the creation of opportunities and prosperity for all, which is what are championing here at The Solutions Hub.

 Insecurity

Insecurity was a major talking point in the political campaigns of the 2015 presidential election in Nigeria and same made it possible to force a regime change in Nigeria. Today, in 2023, Insecurity is still a pressing concern that threatens the very fabric of our society. But let us not forget that our unity is our greatest strength. Together, we can address the root causes of insecurity, support our security forces, and work towards lasting peace. We must engage in dialogue and promote social cohesion as we strive to create a safer Nigeria for all.  We also join those calling for the unconditional release of the leader of IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, and for the return of peace and security in the once peace-loving region of the country, the southeast.  The insecurity in the south-east, especially, is political and evil and it should be stopped.

Education and Empowerment

There cannot be meaningful progress in any society without quality and affordable education.   Education is the cornerstone of progress. We must invest in our youth, providing them with quality education and opportunities for skill development. Empowered youth are the engines of economic growth and social change. Let us ensure that no Nigerian is left behind when it comes to access to education and the chance to unlock their potential.

Our Unity in Diversity

Nigeria is a tapestry of diverse cultures, languages, and traditions. Our diversity should be a source of strength, not division. Let us embrace tolerance, understanding, and cooperation, fostering an inclusive society where all voices are heard and all lives are valued.

Our Resolve

We are not unmindful of a Joint Press Release by  UNICEF Nigeria and FAO in Nigeria in Abuja on 16 January 2023 concerning a looming food crisis in Nigeria in 2023, among other reports warning of poverty and hunger in Nigeria.  The report titled; "25 million Nigerians at high risk of food insecurity in 2023", made it clear that nearly 25 million Nigerians are at risk of facing hunger between June and August 2023, and it called for urgent action from the Nigerian government. Mind you, this number is in addition to the 17 million already facing food insecurity.   What has the government done in that regard to date? Propaganda and more propaganda.

As individual change agents, our resolve to eradicate hunger and poverty should be unwavering. Let us work together to ensure that no Nigerian goes to bed hungry, that every child has access to quality education, and that our healthcare system provides for the well-being of all. We must promote entrepreneurship and innovation, creating jobs and empowering our youth to be the drivers of economic growth.

Our Collective Vision For The Future

Conclusively, as we celebrate our 63rd Independence Anniversary, let us remember that our journey is one of continuous unity and resilience as we strive for progress. Challenges may test our resolve, but they cannot break our spirit. We are a nation of resilience, courage, and unity.  Together, we can overcome hunger, poverty, and insecurity. Together, we can build a brighter future for Nigeria, where every citizen enjoys prosperity, security, and the pursuit of happiness. Let us look forward to the next chapter of our nation's history with hope and determination.

Happy Independence Day, Nigeria! May the coming years bring us closer to the Nigeria of our dreams—a land of opportunity, peace, and prosperity for all.

In unity, we thrive. In resilience, we triumph. God bless Nigeria!
